August 2007 (Saginaw, MICHIGAN) – R.C. Hendrick & Son, one
of the oldest continuously family-owned-and-operated
construction companies in Michigan, has received a safety
commendation for its exceptional safety program from
Accident Fund Insurance Company of America.
Founded in 1876, R. C. Hendrick & Son directs general
contracting, construction management and design/build
projects. Phil Hendrick, vice president, and one of the
fourth-generation owners in the family business, accepted
the award on behalf of the more than 50 employees who work
for the company.
“Safety is a business decision and it’s the right thing to
do for your employees. When our employees stay safe, we’re
more efficient,” says Hendrick. “It also means that our
workers comp costs will be lower, which allows us to keep
our prices competitive. The bottom line is that a good
safety record is good for our business.”
Jim Fisher, senior loss prevention consultant for Accident
Fund, said that the company earned the award for bottom line
results -- including an incidence rate below the national
average – as well as a long history of commitment to
workplace safety.
“These folks understand that safety is good business,” says
Fisher. “They encourage me to go out and visit their job
sites regularly to see if there is anything they can do to
improve. They are always looking to promote job site safety
to their employees.”
